In Bijapur, security forces successfully neutralized a dangerous Naxal plan. During a demining operation on the Gorna-Mankeli route on Saturday, a powerful 10 kg command IED was recovered and defused. This operation occurred in a climate of fear, following the brutal murder of a young man by Naxals in the same village on Friday. The Naxals had strategically planted the explosive on the road to target the security forces, but their plot was thwarted. The demining operation was a collaborative effort, involving the DRG Bijapur, Bijapur police station, and the BDS team. During the search, security personnel noticed an electrical wire which then prompted a comprehensive search. This search led to the discovery of a 10 kg IED concealed inside a steel tiffin box and linked to an electric wire approximately 70-80 meters long. The BDS team, demonstrating skill and caution, meticulously defused the explosive. A video of the IED destruction has been made available. According to officials, the Naxals sought to harm both security forces and the general public. The prompt and professional response of the security forces prevented a major disaster, thereby dismantling the Naxal’s intentions.
