A devastating tragedy unfolded in Dumka, Jharkhand, where four high school students lost their lives in the Mayurakshi River. The students, identified as close friends, were enjoying an outing when they decided to enter the river for a swim. Due to recent heavy rainfall, the river’s depth had increased substantially, and the current was powerful. As the students entered the water, they were swept away by the strong current and drowned. Upon receiving information about the incident, local police, with the assistance of local divers, initiated a search operation. After several hours, the bodies of the four students were recovered from the river. The incident has caused immense sorrow and grief throughout the community, with families devastated by the loss of their children. Authorities have sent the bodies for a post-mortem examination. This incident serves as a somber reminder of the dangers associated with natural water bodies, particularly during the monsoon season. Authorities are urging people to exercise extreme caution and avoid swimming in rivers and other water bodies during this time.
