Irfan Pathan has lauded Arshdeep Singh, recognizing his evolution into a premier white-ball bowler. In addition, Pathan has backed Khaleel Ahmed as India’s next top left-arm fast bowler, pointing to his impressive showing with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the previous IPL season. Arshdeep has been central to India’s T20 team for the last two years, contributing significantly to the 2024 T20 World Cup win and is close to reaching the 100-wicket mark in T20Is. During his discussion on Revsportz, Pathan outlined the crucial qualities required in a left-arm pacer: the ability to consistently clock 135-140 kmph, swing the ball in both directions, and deliver effective bouncers, asserting that Khaleel possesses all these attributes. Pathan views Khaleel as a complete package, highlighting improvements in pace, seam position, slow bouncers, and fitness. Khaleel last played for India in a T20I against Sri Lanka. Since then, he has enhanced his game considerably and became CSK’s primary wicket-taker in the recent IPL season, particularly in powerplay overs. Pathan believes Khaleel, aged 27, is in peak condition to perform under pressure. Despite Pathan’s support, Khaleel was not selected for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.
