Controversy has arisen in Bihar following the discovery that two Pakistani women were included in the voter list in Bhagalpur. The women are said to have arrived in India many decades ago. This came to light during a Ministry of Home Affairs verification aimed at identifying foreign nationals who had overstayed their visas. The investigation confirmed that voter ID cards were issued to Imrana Khanam and Firdousia Khanam. Further, these women were verified during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process conducted in preparation for the 2025 assembly elections, highlighting the extent of the issue.
