During the closing of the monsoon session, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren launched a sharp attack on the central government. He accused them of hindering government work and exerting control over various constitutional institutions. Soren implied that legal and administrative processes are being influenced.
He highlighted the current state government’s focus on the welfare of the people, contrasting it with situations in opposition-led states, particularly concerning the treatment of tribal communities and minorities. The Chief Minister cited Ladakh as an example of the central government undermining individuals’ contributions. He also raised concerns about planned legal amendments, implying that there are hidden agendas. Soren stressed the equal value of every vote in the electoral process and accused the government of influencing the Election Commission.
He criticized the government’s approach as superficial and deceptive, specifically referencing the cancellation of an event planned for Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary. Soren also discussed the wealth generated from Jharkhand’s mineral resources, which he stated had enriched others while the state faced environmental and health challenges. He also stated that the Prime Minister’s Office monitors the auction of mines and criticized the impact of mining on the state.
Soren claimed that Jharkhand is bearing the brunt of development, urging for a long-term action plan. He criticized the opposition for exploiting the “RIMS Two” project for political gain, engaging in dirty politics, and creating fake political parties. Soren concluded by affirming Jharkhand’s achievements and advocating for positive political cooperation. He questioned the opposition’s objectives, asking whether they are focused on national leadership or personal gain. He also mentioned the Jharkhand Assembly’s proposal to award the Bharat Ratna to Dishom Guru Shibu Soren.
