A series of Russian missile and drone strikes targeted Kyiv on Thursday, causing at least eight fatalities, including a child. According to officials, 22 people were injured, and some residents remained trapped after a building collapsed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attacks on Kyiv, highlighting the loss of life and injuries sustained. He shared the details via X, mentioning first responders working to clear the rubble and offering condolences to affected families. Zelenskyy called for a stronger response from the international community, specifically targeting China, which has called for a ceasefire, and Hungary. He pointed out the need for China to respond, considering its prior calls for an end to the war, and also sought a reaction from Hungary regarding the death of children. The attack, which impacted a residential building in the Darnytskyi district, caused significant destruction and potential entrapment. Zelenskyy stated that the strikes were a direct response to diplomatic efforts, accusing Russia of choosing continued conflict. He also called for intensified sanctions against Russia due to the breakdown in diplomatic negotiations and demanded accountability for every action taken during the conflict.
