The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held a meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where foreign ministers addressed the issue of Israel’s UN membership. The 57 member states of the OIC collectively called for the revocation of Israel’s membership within the United Nations, citing violations of the conditions for membership.
The OIC ministers opposed Israel’s occupation and military control of Gaza. They requested that the UN General Assembly’s Security Council hold a special session in September. The organization also rejected the concept of Greater Israel, viewing it as a violation of international law, the UN charter, and a threat to regional and international peace.
