TVS is about to launch a new, affordable electric scooter in India, with the name ‘Orbiter’. This move comes after the company trademarked the name. The production version is due for launch on August 28th. This new electric scooter will be positioned below the TVS iQube. The current iQube starts at around ₹1 lakh and goes up to ₹1.59 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Orbiter is expected to be priced at under ₹1 lakh, targeting a broader consumer segment. This price point will allow it to compete with rivals like the Bajaj Chetak and Ola S1 X. The launch timing is strategic, coinciding with the festive season, which is typically a high-demand period for automobile sales. TVS also patented a new electric scooter design in Indonesia, hinting at a premium look for the Orbiter.
