The Kerala Cricket League witnessed a captivating display of cricket where the Kochi Blue Tigers secured a thrilling victory, thanks to the outstanding performance of Muhammad Ashik. The match, however, also featured a remarkable century from Sanju Samson.
Kollam Sailors set a challenging target for Kochi, scoring 236 runs. Key contributions came from Vishnu Vinod and Sachin Baby, with scores of 94 and 91 respectively. In response, Sanju Samson played a stunning innings, reaching his century in just 42 balls. However, the game took a dramatic turn when Kochi experienced some setbacks, making the chase more difficult.
Muhammad Ashik rose to the occasion, partnering with Samson. In the final over, Kochi needed 17 runs. Ashik smashed a four and a six, and although another batsman was run out, Ashik remained on strike for the final delivery, needing six runs to win. Ashik hit a six, securing a dramatic win for his team. His unbeaten innings of 45 runs off 18 balls, including 5 sixes and 3 fours, defined the thrilling finish and overshadowed Samson’s century.
