The Yunus government is actively working to manage risks associated with the upcoming elections in Bangladesh. A key challenge is dealing with the weapons seized from security forces during clashes with protesters during the July revolution last year. The interim government is concerned about the potential misuse of these weapons before the elections, leading to intensified efforts to recover them.
Official data indicates that 1,363 weapons and 257,720 cartridges have not yet been recovered. Law enforcement agencies are concerned that these arms could be used to incite violence and destabilize the country before the upcoming national elections. The campaign to seize weapons has been accelerated.
Home Advisor, Retired Lieutenant General Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, stated on Saturday that the recovery of weapons is an ongoing process, with seizures occurring daily. He expressed the expectation that nearly all weapons would be recovered before the elections.
