The Indian community and beyond mourns the death of Lord Swraj Paul, founder of the Caparo Group, who passed away in London at 94. A respected figure in the UK, he was a consistent presence in the House of Lords. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow at the loss of NRI industrialist Swaraj Paul and commended his extensive contributions to philanthropy and public service. Lord Paul, who was born in Jalandhar, moved to the UK in the 1960s to get medical care for his daughter Ambika. After her death at four years old, he founded the Ambika Paul Foundation, which has provided support for education and healthcare projects for children and young people. He continued to support his philanthropic causes even after the death of his son Angad Paul in 2015 and his wife Aruna in 2022.
