Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron via a phone call. On X, PM Modi wrote, “Had a very good conversation with my friend President Macron. Exchanged views on efforts for peaceful resolution of conflicts in Ukraine and in West Asia. Reaffirmed our commitment to further strengthen the India-France strategic partnership.”
The dialogue between PM Modi and the French President occurred as efforts to secure ceasefires in Ukraine and Gaza gained momentum. India has consistently advocated for the resolution of conflicts through diplomatic means. India has previously demonstrated its willingness to cooperate in resolving these conflicts.
Furthermore, the leaders reviewed the advancement of the bilateral cooperation agenda, including trade, defense, civil nuclear cooperation, technology, and energy. Both leaders reaffirmed their joint commitment to strengthening the India-France strategic partnership and to appropriately designating 2026 as the ‘Innovation Year’.
President Macron also expressed his support for the expeditious completion of the Free Trade Agreement between India and the European Union. The leaders agreed to maintain communication on all matters.
