Tesla has introduced a new, long-wheelbase version of its Model Y specifically for the Chinese market. The new Model Y offers a roomier interior with a six-seat layout. This electric SUV also promises a greater range for drivers. This launch is intended to help Tesla increase its sales in China. The new Tesla Model Y extends to 4,976 mm in length, which is 179 mm longer. Its wheelbase is 150 mm longer, now measuring 3,040 mm. The SUV stands 1,668 mm tall. The Model Y L showcases a longer roofline and a larger quarter glass. It has new 19-inch alloy wheels, a black rear spoiler, and a new ‘Model YYY’ badge on the tailgate. The car also features a new Starlight Gold paint scheme. The interior features a 2+2+2 seating arrangement. The second row includes captain seats with heating, ventilation, and electrically folding armrests. The back row includes heating. It also has a 16-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 18 speakers, pillar-mounted air vents, cup holders, and a black headliner. The Tesla Model Y L features a long-range variant, with dual motors and all-wheel drive. The front motor offers 190 bhp, and the rear motor provides 265 bhp. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 201 km/h. The 82 kWh battery provides a range of 751 km. The new Model Y L weighs 2,088 kg. The new Tesla Model Y L is priced from 3,39,000 yuan (approximately ₹41.17 lakh) in China. It is expected to compete with BYD and NIO. The long-wheelbase Model Y will only be sold in China.
