Xiaomi, a Chinese tech firm, is expanding beyond its traditional smartphone and gadget market to enter the automotive industry, setting its sights on Europe to challenge Tesla and BYD. The company’s first electric car, the SU7 EV, has already garnered attention, and now the focus is on the European electric car market. Xiaomi, which has a strong presence in China’s EV sector, is preparing to directly compete with established automakers such as Tesla and BYD. The company aims to launch its first electric car in Europe by 2027. Xiaomi’s expansion plans have been indicated by company leadership. The launch of the electric car has also resulted in a reported 31% increase in quarterly revenue. However, Xiaomi will face challenges in Europe due to import duties and tariffs, which could amount to approximately 48%. Currently, Xiaomi sells the SU7 electric sedan, with a production of one lakh units completed last year. The Xiaomi SU7 Max comes with a 101 kWh battery pack that provides a driving range of up to 800 kilometers on a single charge. The SU7 Max accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.78 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in 10.67 seconds, with a top speed of 265 km/h. It offers 668 bhp of output and 838 Nm of torque.
