A recent incident involving the Mumbai Monorail has raised concerns about its functionality. The monorail, designed to ease congestion, stalled between Mysore Colony and Bhakti Park stations, leading to widespread disruption and discomfort for the passengers. The incident appears to be related to heavy rainfall, which caused significant disruption to the suburban local train services. The monorail project, costing around 3000 crore rupees, was aimed at providing an efficient transport alternative. The construction contract was awarded to Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Malaysia’s Scomi Engineering for 2,460 crore rupees, including design, construction, and maintenance. The route covers 19.54 kilometers, running from Chembur to Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk (Mahalaxmi) with 17 stations.
