Prime Minister Narendra Modi is actively pursuing support from the opposition for the NDA’s selection, CP Radhakrishnan, for the Vice President role. Modi emphasized the importance of the election of the new Rajya Sabha chairman via a general committee, and also noted that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is in ongoing talks with leaders of all political parties. Modi lauded CP Radhakrishnan as an experienced and respected public servant, known for his humility and absence of controversy, and called upon all parties to unite and support him, thereby strengthening the NDA candidate’s position. This appeal comes after the BJP Parliamentary Board’s decision to nominate Radhakrishnan for the post of Vice President. Following Tuesday’s NDA Parliamentary Party meeting, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that Prime Minister Modi appealed to all MPs, including those from the Opposition, to support CP Radhakrishnan in the Vice Presidential elections.
