The trailer launch of Vivek Agnihotri’s film ‘The Bengal Files’ has created a buzz, with the film centered on the 1946 communal violence in Bengal. Actor Saswata Chatterjee has weighed in on the controversies. When asked about the film’s subject, Chatterjee said, ‘I am merely an actor. I accepted the role because I liked the character.’ He clarified that he is not a historian and does not delve into historical discussions, seeing it as potential distortion. He directed individuals with issues regarding the trailer’s historical accuracy to legal channels. Chatterjee added that he only knew his character and role details. ‘The Bengal Files’ is set to release in theaters on September 5, 2025, with a runtime of 3 hours and 20 minutes. The film features Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, and Darshan Kumar. There are doubts concerning the movie’s release in Bengal.
