The SUV market is poised for growth, with Maruti Suzuki and Renault preparing to launch new vehicles. Maruti Suzuki is planning to unveil the Maruti Escudo, a mid-size SUV, on September 3, 2025. Renault is also preparing to introduce a facelifted version of the Kiger.
The Maruti Escudo is expected to include new features for a Maruti car in India, such as Dolby Atmos audio and Level-2 ADAS. It will offer a 4WD system for improved off-road capabilities. This SUV is expected to be based on the Grand Vitara platform, offering the same engine choices which include 1.5-liter petrol, 1.5-liter strong hybrid and CNG variants. Exterior changes will be minimal, with a slightly expanded cargo area anticipated.
The Renault Kiger will receive a mid-life update with cosmetic enhancements, including a refreshed front fascia with the new Renault logo, new taillights, and a sporty rear bumper. The engine options will remain unchanged, with the 1.0-liter naturally aspirated and 1.0-liter turbo petrol engines. Manual and automatic transmissions will be available. A CNG kit will also be available for the updated model.
These launches are expected to increase competition in the SUV sector. The Kiger is poised to be one of the most affordable subcompact SUVs in the market.
