Torrential rainfall has unleashed a wave of deadly flash floods across northwest Pakistan, resulting in the loss of hundreds of lives and causing widespread devastation. The mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been hit particularly hard, with towns and villages swept away by the raging floodwaters. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) is coordinating relief efforts, but the scale of the disaster is immense.
The situation was made even more difficult by a helicopter crash during a rescue mission, which killed five crew members. Emergency services are working to rescue stranded individuals and provide assistance to those affected by the floods. The government has announced a period of mourning in honor of the victims. The administration has issued a notification stating that the national flag will be flown at half-mast across the province as a mark of respect.
