Indian football fans are in for an exciting experience with the upcoming return of Lionel Messi, the celebrated football player. The tour, which is slated for later in 2025, will commence with a three-city tour, beginning in Kolkata on December 12. Event promoter Satadru Dutta confirmed the news and also revealed that the tour will culminate with a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 15, in New Delhi. The tour, named the ‘GOAT Tour of India 2025’, will include Ahmedabad and Mumbai as well. Messi’s last appearance in India was in 2011, in Kolkata. Dutta explained the efforts taken to bring Messi to India and his commitment to the tour. The Kolkata schedule includes a meet-and-greet event at Taj Bengal and a tea-tasting session offering Argentine mate and Indian Assam tea. Beyond the planned events, Messi will also be hosting masterclasses for children in each of the cities, in an attempt to inspire the future generation of footballers. There is anticipation that several of Messi’s Inter Miami teammates might accompany him. The tour is poised to be a historic moment, celebrating Messi’s unparalleled career while nurturing the growth of football within India.
