Tragedy struck Garhwa district in Jharkhand on Independence Day as four individuals lost their lives due to suffocation inside a septic tank. The deceased included three brothers. Following the incident, the Garhwa police station was notified, and the authorities took charge of the bodies for post-mortem procedures.
The incident occurred at the residence of Moti Chaudhary in Nawada village, under the jurisdiction of the Garhwa police station. A new septic tank was being built at the house as part of ongoing construction. Maltu Ram, a local resident, initially entered the tank to dismantle the tank’s setting.
When Maltu Ram did not come out of the tank after a long time, concern arose among the other family members. Raju Shekhar Chaudhary, Moti Chaudhary’s eldest son, entered the septic tank to check on Maltu Ram. He, too, did not come out. Subsequently, his brothers, Ajay Chaudhary and Chandrashekhar Chaudhary, entered the tank one by one. Tragically, all four individuals died from suffocation.
The deaths of the three brothers and the fourth person caused widespread panic throughout the village. The Garhwa police station was immediately informed. Villagers, with great effort, managed to extract the four individuals from the septic tank and take them to the hospital. However, the doctors declared them dead upon arrival.
Garhwa District SDO Sanjay Kumar, SDPO Neeraj Kumar, and the Station In-charge, along with numerous other officials, reached the hospital to assess the situation upon receiving the news of the incident. Initial investigations suggest that the deaths were caused by poisonous gases forming inside the septic tank, leading to suffocation. The police administration is currently investigating the tragic incident.
