Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that drug abuse negatively impacts the well-being of families, society, and the country. The Madhya Pradesh government is dedicated to making the state drug-free and is taking various measures to achieve this. These include restricting alcohol sales in 19 religious areas and a successful police campaign, ‘Distance from Drugs is Essential,’ conducted from July 15th to July 31st. The police are focusing on taking action against the main perpetrators of the drug trade.
The ‘Drug-Free India Campaign’ was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi five years ago. In Madhya Pradesh, efforts are focused on increasing social awareness and implementing legal measures to combat drug abuse. The government is determined to eradicate the problem of addiction from society. The Bhopal Police have initiated strict actions against those involved in the illegal drug trade.
Dr. Yadav also distributed the Vivekananda Drug De-addiction Awards. Further, he facilitated the single-click transfer of 339 crore rupees in pension payments to over 56 lakh beneficiaries. Earlier, he paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and visited an exhibition on drug de-addiction.
The Vivekananda Drug De-addiction Awards were given to Rajiv Tiwari, President of Shuddhi Nashamukti Kendra; Sujit Kumar Dwivedi, representing Shaheed Bhagat Singh Seva Samiti; Rajesh Dandotia, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Indore; Prashant Choubey, Additional Superintendent of Police, Vidisha; and Santosh Patel, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Hawkforce Balaghat.
Dr. Yadav highlighted that the world regards refined Indian philosophy, which is based on knowledge and science, with great respect. He mentioned that scientists globally were astonished when Indian scientist Jagadish Chandra Bose stated that plants have life. He emphasized the significance of personal values, collaborative living, and social responsibilities. India is known for its harmony and culture, and these qualities give it a special status globally.
The Chief Minister commended the Gayatri Parivar and Brahma Kumaris for their vital contributions to public awareness. He led everyone in taking an oath to support the drug-free campaign. He also announced that the state government would celebrate the birth anniversaries of Lord Balram and Lord Krishna.
Social Justice and Disabled Welfare Minister Narayan Singh Kushwaha highlighted the 5th anniversary of the ‘Drug-Free India Campaign’ initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He stated that a nationwide public awareness campaign against drugs is underway throughout August. He noted that the campaign in Madhya Pradesh, supported by the leadership of Dr. Yadav, the police, and the public, has been successful. He reiterated that drugs are a societal problem and that with public support, the vision of a developed and prosperous India will be achieved.
