In a gesture of goodwill, the BCCI is providing training facilities to the Nepal cricket team as they prepare for the T20 World Cup. The Nepal team is utilizing the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence to hone their skills for the qualifiers. The BCCI’s support includes providing access to training facilities and arranging practice sessions.
The Nepal team is currently engaged in a two-week camp at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. The focus of the camp is on improving various aspects of the game, including skill development, fitness, and simulating match situations. The team is striving to perform well in the qualifiers and secure a spot in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
The BCCI has a history of supporting Nepal’s cricket efforts. Before the 2024 T20 World Cup, Nepal had the opportunity to train in India and compete against local teams. The Indian government also recognizes the importance of supporting cricket in Nepal. Dr. S. Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs Minister, has met with representatives from Nepal’s cricket association and pledged support for cricket development. Practice matches between Nepal and the DDCA Under-19 teams were also supported by the Indian government. The Nepal women’s team has also trained in India, participating in the Asia Cup qualifiers, where they reached the final.
