The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is launching the new annual FASTag pass system from August 15th. This pass is designed to reduce toll costs for users on National Highways and Expressways throughout the country. Individuals can purchase the pass from August 15th and enjoy its benefits, but there are several key points to consider before making a purchase.
Buyers of the pass will make a one-time payment of ₹3,000. This will enable them to cross tolls 200 times or for a period of one year. With this pass, the average toll cost will be ₹15 per crossing. This is a substantial reduction from the current charges, which typically exceed ₹50. At ₹50 per crossing, the cost for 200 toll crossings would be ₹10,000, whereas the pass costs only ₹3,000, resulting in savings of ₹7,000.
Important Information:
1. The FASTag annual pass is exclusively available for private vehicle owners, including owners of jeeps, cars, and vans. It is not available to bus, truck, or other taxi owners.
2. The pass is vehicle-specific and cannot be transferred. It can only be used by the registered vehicle for which it was purchased.
3. This annual pass is valid only on National Highways and Expressways maintained by NHAI or the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Tolls on state or municipal roads will need to be paid separately. This also excludes state expressways.
4. Once the annual pass is purchased, it is non-refundable. There is no option for a refund after purchase. Upon the pass’s expiration, users will need to renew it and make a new payment.
How to Purchase:
To purchase the pass, use your vehicle number and FASTag ID to log in to the Highway Yatra app or the NHAI or MoRTH websites. Ensure your FASTag is active and properly installed. Payments of ₹3,000 can be made online using UPI, debit or credit cards, or net banking.
