Surya Hansda, who had contested the assembly elections four times, was killed in a police encounter. He was a prominent figure with alleged criminal involvements. The incident took place in the Boarijore police station area of Godda district, Jharkhand. He was involved in several criminal cases and had political aspirations.
In 2019, he contested on a BJP ticket, but lost the election. Later, he contested on another party’s ticket but was unsuccessful.
Hansda had a long history of criminal charges, including cases of firing, arson, and serious offenses. He was arrested by the police on Sunday. The police team went to recover hidden weapons in the Godda district based on the information provided by him. During the recovery, Hansda attempted to flee after trying to seize a weapon from the police, resulting in the police firing and his subsequent death. His body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
