Nissan India has introduced the Magnite Kuro Edition, an enhanced version of its popular SUV. This new variant, based on the N-Connect trim, comes with a starting price of ₹8.31 lakh (ex-showroom). Released nearly a year after the Magnite’s mid-life update in October 2024, the Kuro Edition offers unique cosmetic enhancements and optional dealer-level accessories. This analysis provides a detailed comparison of the design, engines, specifications, and pricing between the Kuro Edition and the standard Magnite.
**Design: A Look at the Kuro Edition vs. Regular Magnite**
The defining feature of the Kuro Edition is its all-black exterior. The model replaces chrome elements with a gloss black finish, notably on the grille. The LED headlamps feature a smoked treatment, enhancing the front’s aesthetic appeal. The front skid plate, which is silver on the standard model, is finished in black on the Kuro Edition.
The side profile of the Kuro Edition features black 16-inch alloy wheels, black roof rails, and a black window beltline. A ‘Kuro’ badge is placed below the exterior rearview mirrors, distinguishing it from the regular N-Connect trim, which uses a combination of body-color and silver accents.
At the rear, the Kuro Edition incorporates a black finish on the lower skid plate, while retaining the same layout as the standard Magnite. The model also features ‘Magnite’ branding, along with ‘Turbo’ and ‘CVT’ badges.
**Interior and Feature Comparison: Kuro Edition vs. Magnite**
Inside, the Kuro Edition features an all-black interior, including the dashboard, seat upholstery, roof liner, and door pads. This ‘Midnight Black’ finish, accented by piano black inserts, offers a distinct visual experience compared to the standard Magnite.
In terms of features, the Kuro Edition mirrors the N-Connect trim, including an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital driver display, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, and push-button start/stop. The addition of a wireless phone charger and a dashcam are offered as dealer-level options.
Safety features include six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), hill-hold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and rear parking sensors. However, a reverse parking camera is not included.
**Mechanical Specifications**
The Kuro Edition and the regular Magnite share the same mechanical specifications. They come with two engine options: a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 72 PS and 96 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox; and a 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 100 PS and up to 160 Nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or CVT transmission.
**Pricing**
The Nissan Magnite Kuro Edition is priced from ₹8.31 lakh to ₹10.87 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings are open for ₹11,000.
