The Helping Hands Club Foundation organized ‘Rakhi with Rakshak, Dori Prem Ka,’ a special event for Raksha Bandhan at the Police Parade Ground, Civil Lines, Raipur. Soldiers from the BSF, ITBP, Chhattisgarh Police, Central Forces, and Odisha participated. The women tied rakhis on the soldiers’ wrists, expressing their gratitude and affection. The women expressed their feelings, stating, “We sleep peacefully only because you are awake. We are safe because of your duty.” Dr. Lal Umed, organizer from the Helping Hands Club Foundation, mentioned that soldiers are away from their families because of their duty. He highlighted that because the soldiers are deployed to protect the country, everyone can safely celebrate festivals. Soldiers surely miss their homes, and the sentiment is understood by all. He emphasized the need to address cybercrime and substance abuse, stating that vigilance and caution are our best defenses. IPS Rajesh Kukreja stated that Helping Hands honored the entire police family of India by tying rakhis to the soldiers. They are responsible for the safety of every sister, and he made a commitment to do so. He appreciated the initiative of Helping Hands and added that it is special for soldiers who do not have sisters. Manoj Goyal, the patron of Helping Hands, shared that their goal is to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with the soldier brothers who are away from home for our safety. The event was held last year and is celebrated this year with greater grandeur. The motto is, ‘Service to humanity is service to God.’ Babita Agarwal, the president of the women’s wing, said that the smile on the faces of the soldiers when they receive rakhis brings them peace. They try to ensure that the soldiers do not miss their sisters or feel homesick. Cybercrime and substance abuse were also discussed. Dr. Lal Umed urged the women to be vigilant in the real world. The event celebrated Raksha Bandhan and sent a message of safety and awareness.
