The Indian Army’s success in Operation Sindoor was significantly aided by its indigenous weaponry. The Indian 105 mm gun, which played a key role in Operation Sindoor, will soon be heard again, this time from the Red Fort. On August 15, as India celebrates its 79th Independence Day, a 21-gun salute will be given using indigenous Light Field Guns, with preparations already underway. Over the past three years, these indigenously made guns have been used for the traditional 21-gun salute during Independence Day events. The indigenous 105 mm Indian Field Gun is designed to fire 21 rounds in sync with the 52-second duration of the national anthem. Prior to this, the British 25 Pounder Gun was used for this purpose at the Red Fort. This represents a significant step toward India’s self-reliance in defense, with the sounds of homegrown artillery set to resonate on this important day.
