A memorable moment occurred at Lord’s Cricket Ground during a recent match, as play was temporarily disrupted. The incident took place during the opening match of a new cricket league, which followed the conclusion of the England-India Test series in London. This league features international cricketers. The game was paused not because of the weather or any player’s injury but because of a fox. The animal ran around the field multiple times, causing a delay before eventually exiting, and allowing the match to restart.
The unexpected event happened on August 5, during the launch of The Hundred 2025 (Men’s) at Lord’s. London Spirit and Oval Invincibles, the previous champions, were the teams involved. The fox’s entry onto the field prompted laughter from the spectators. The game was suspended for approximately a minute as the fox made its way around the ground. Daniel Worrall, a fast bowler for London Spirit, was preparing to bowl when the fox unexpectedly appeared.
Commentators Stuart Broad and Eoin Morgan were unable to suppress their amusement at the scene. Sky Sports Cricket posted a video of the fox’s antics on social media, which quickly became popular online. The fox eventually left the field, and the game was able to continue.
In the first innings, London Spirit scored only 80 runs, losing all wickets in 94 balls. Oval Invincibles’ bowlers, Rashid Khan and Sam Curran, dominated the game, dismantling the London Spirit batting lineup that included David Warner, Kane Williamson, and Ashton Turner. Rashid Khan and Sam Curran took three wickets each. Jordan Clark secured two wickets. Oval Invincibles went on to win the match, achieving the required score with four wickets down in 69 balls. Rashid Khan was honored as the Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.
