The final rites for the late Shibu Soren, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, were conducted on Tuesday with customary rituals. The cremation took place in Nemra, his ancestral village, located in the Gola block of Ramgarh district. The event saw an outpouring of support from his followers.
When news of the last rites of Shibu Soren, known as Guruji, spread, people started arriving at Nemra from Tuesday morning. The district administration had implemented a barricade at Lukaiyatand, about seven kilometers from the village. A helipad and transportation were arranged for VIPs. The established route was intended for VIPs only. However, supporters of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Shibu Soren chose to walk the seven-kilometer distance.
The public walked from Lukaiyatand to Nemra, where roads were inaccessible. The path to the crematorium, prepared by the district administration, was muddy. The body was transported by laying planks across muddy fields. Finding no clear path, the public used footpaths through the fields. Supporters of Shibu Soren reached the crematorium via these alternative routes. Despite the rain, which prompted some to seek shelter, the dedicated supporters of Shibu Soren remained steadfast. They stood in the rain for approximately half an hour, offering their final respects before leaving.
