India’s electric vehicle (EV) market experienced substantial expansion in July 2025, with a notable 93% increase in sales compared to the same month in the previous year. Tata Motors, the leading player in the segment, continued to dominate, selling over 6,000 units. Nevertheless, its market share decreased. Competitors like JSW MG Motor India and Mahindra demonstrated remarkable growth, surpassing 200% year-over-year. However, they did not surpass Tata Motors in terms of total sales.
MG Motor has been making headway in the market, and its market share has seen a significant rise. The company’s market share has gone up considerably within a year, and new models like the M9 MPV and Cyberster electric sports car are expected to reinforce MG’s standing in the premium segment. Mahindra’s EV sales were also boosted, but July 2025 sales were a bit lower than the past three months. The company has started delivering mid-spec Pack Two variants of its BE 6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs. Their sales figures should boost Mahindra’s monthly sales and growth.
