The passing of Shibu Soren, a prominent figure in Jharkhand and the founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha party, has prompted calls for him to be awarded the Bharat Ratna. Minister Irfan Ansari has taken the initiative to request the President to confer the Bharat Ratna on ‘Guruji’ Shibu Soren. Ansari underlined Soren’s deserving status, emphasizing his role as a revolutionary and a voice for the underprivileged. Soren, who was three-time Chief Minister of Jharkhand and also known as ‘Dishom Guru’, was a staunch advocate for tribal rights and dedicated his life to uplift the marginalized. Ansari, while expressing his condolences, highlighted Soren’s enduring legacy and impact. Soren’s passing at 81 has created a void in Jharkhand. Ansari hopes Soren’s dedication to the underprivileged will lead to him receiving the Bharat Ratna. Soren also played a vital role in the formation of the Jharkhand state. He had a profound influence on the state’s political landscape and was instrumental in advocating for the rights of the tribal communities.
