The death of Shibu Soren, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and the founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), has been announced. He was receiving medical attention at Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital due to a long-term illness. The news was shared by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on X (formerly Twitter) in a touching post, expressing deep personal grief. He stated, “Respected Dishom Guruji is no longer with us. I am bereft today.” Shibu Soren, known and revered as ‘Dishom Guru’ across Jharkhand, was a key figure in the movement to establish a separate state. Born on January 11, 1944, in the village of Nemra in the Ramgarh district, he entered the political arena following his father’s murder and spent his life championing the rights of the tribal communities.
