As Bihar prepares for its 2025 Assembly elections, a dispute has arisen regarding the accuracy of the voter rolls. The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls is at the heart of the controversy, with allegations of errors in the voter list. Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD’s CM candidate, stated his name is missing from the Election Commission’s draft voter list. He claimed to have completed the enumeration form during the special revision of electoral rolls in Bihar. His absence from the voter list raises questions about his eligibility to contest in the upcoming elections. The Janata Dal (United) has responded by accusing Tejashwi of misleading the public regarding the voter list issue. During a press conference, Tejashwi Yadav brought attention to the situation and questioned how he would be able to run in the elections. The Patna district administration responded quickly and clarified that Tejashwi Yadav’s name is included in the voter list, but his polling station and serial number have been changed. Tejashwi Yadav responded by questioning the significance of these changes and suggesting it could be part of a broader effort to remove names from the voter list. The Election Commission immediately refuted his claims, declaring them false. JDU’s chief spokesperson, Neeraj Kumar, called Tejashwi a “political fraud.” The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Bihar will allow for the filing of objections regarding any discrepancies in the electoral roll from August 1st to September 1st, 2025.
