Following the announcement of a trade deal between the United States and Pakistan concerning the development of oil reserves, Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch has voiced strong opposition, declaring that Balochistan’s resources are not under Pakistan’s ownership. In a letter to former President Donald Trump, Baloch contested Pakistan’s claims, insisting that the oil, gas, and mineral resources of the region rightfully belong to the Baloch people. He alleged that Pakistan is making false claims to control the region’s mineral wealth. Baloch specifically highlighted that resources such as rare earth elements, copper, lithium, uranium, and oil are the property of the Baloch people, and the Pakistani government lacks the right to control or sell them. He warned that any partnership with Pakistan regarding Balochistan’s resources would bolster the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), which he described as an agency that supports terrorism. Baloch warned that this deal could potentially fund global terrorism. He also warned that the profits from such deals would not reach the Baloch people but would instead fund anti-India and anti-Israel militant operations. He emphasized that Balochistan declared itself an independent republic in May 2025 and urged the global community to recognize its sovereignty, stating that Balochistan is not for sale and that the Baloch people will not allow any entity to exploit their land without their consent. The statement was issued after Trump’s post on his social media platform, where he mentioned a deal with Pakistan to develop its massive oil reserves and the process of selecting the leading oil company for the partnership.
