In the wake of incidents during the World Championship of Legends (WCL), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has prohibited the use of the name ‘Pakistan’ in privately organized cricket leagues. The controversy arose when Indian cricketers twice refused to compete against the ‘Pakistan Champions’ team. The refusals led to the teams being awarded one point each. The Pakistan government, along with the Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ministry, advised the PCB to take strong action to prevent such occurrences in the future. The team comprised veteran players like Misbah ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, and Shahid Afridi. The decision was made during a PCB Board of Directors meeting. This move highlights the sensitivity surrounding the use of national identity in private sporting events.
