In a bid to avoid arrest, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has filed a petition for anticipatory bail in the Supreme Court. The application is related to investigations into alleged wrongdoings linked to liquor, coal, and the Mahadev betting app. Baghel is challenging the CBI and ED’s jurisdiction and requesting the court to prevent his arrest, allowing him to collaborate with the investigation. The matter is set for a Supreme Court hearing on Monday.
Additionally, the Supreme Court will hear the bail plea of Chaitanya Baghel, son of the former CM. The petition argues that his arrest was politically driven, despite his name not being included in the ED’s FIR or any related statements. He is currently in judicial custody.
