The Indian government has initiated a crackdown on OTT platforms, resulting in the blocking of 43 apps for hosting objectionable content. This action was taken under the IT Act 2000 and IT Rules 2021, which require OTT platforms to comply with government guidelines. Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, stated that platforms must adhere to a code of conduct that prohibits the display of content that is legally prohibited. This measure aims to prevent the proliferation of explicit and violent material.
