Manish Sisodia, a senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has held the BJP and Congress accountable for the state of India’s education system. He stated that while other countries are preparing their children for the future, India is struggling to provide adequate education. Sisodia attributed the state of education to the policies and neglect of the past and present governments led by the BJP and Congress. He highlighted AAP’s efforts to improve government schools and its commitment to making education a priority. He announced that AAP Prabharis from 20 states will send a team of volunteers to inspect schools and expose the situation. Sisodia criticized the Centre’s education policies. He used the Jhalawar school roof collapse incident as an example of government neglect. He stated that this incident was due to the government’s reluctance to spend money on school repairs. Sisodia emphasized that the Indian education system is in a shambles, holding both the BJP and Congress responsible. He pointed out that according to UDISE data, a small percentage of government schools have computer labs, and a small number of children can read or do basic maths. He also pointed out that the central government has not spent enough on education. Sisodia compared India’s education approach with that of Japan and South Korea, which prioritize AI and robotics in the curriculum. He criticized the lack of teacher training and highlighted the poor condition of many government schools. Sanjay Singh and Harjot Singh Bains, also from the AAP, supported Sisodia’s statements. Sanjay Singh contrasted AAP’s focus on education and healthcare with the BJP’s perceived focus on other issues. Harjot Singh Bains emphasized AAP’s success in transforming education in Punjab. Sisodia underscored the failure of BJP-Congress governments to bring about education reform.
