In a gruesome incident in Surat, Gujarat, a woman survived a brutal attack that included gang-rape and an attempt to murder her, allegedly orchestrated by her husband and his friends. The motive behind the crime was the husband’s suspicion of an extramarital affair. Police have arrested four suspects, including Ganesh Rajput, the husband, and his associates.
The ordeal began on July 24 when Ganesh Rajput assaulted his wife with a hammer and a knife. The next day, the victim was taken to a rented room where she was allegedly gang-raped by Rajput and his friend, Prince Kumar, 22. In an attempt to dispose of the body, Rajput enlisted the help of Vijay alias Kachyo Ishwarbhai Rathod, 29, and Appa Jagannath Waghmare, 39, who tied the woman up and threw her into the Tapi River. The woman miraculously survived, swam to safety, and reported the crime at the Kapodara police station.
A case of gang rape and attempted murder has been registered, leading to the arrest of all the suspects. The investigation also revealed that the main accused, Ganesh Rajput, has a lengthy criminal record with 26 prior cases registered against him in Surat.
