A dispute has erupted in a government school in Begusarai, Bihar, concerning the teaching of Urdu. An Urdu teacher has alleged that he is being prevented from teaching the language by the principal and other teachers, who are also harassing him. Students and parents have registered a complaint with the District Education Officer against the principal and other teachers. The District Education Officer has committed to conducting a personal investigation. The incident occurred at the Rajkiya Madhya Vidyalaya Pahasara Bhaban Gama in the Navkothi block of Begusarai. Mohammad Aavid was appointed as an Urdu teacher through the BPSC TRE-3. Upon his appointment, Aavid requested to teach Urdu to Muslim students. However, the principal and other teachers denied him permission to conduct separate classes for Urdu. The Urdu teacher, citing his official appointment, has been persistently demanding to teach Urdu. The teacher claims that following his appointment on May 15th, he was treated poorly by the principal on June 27th because he asked to teach Urdu. He has filed written complaints with the Governor, DM, and the education department. The teacher states that, after the department requested an explanation from the principal regarding his complaint, the principal threatened to remove students from the school rolls. Despite working eight hours, he hasn’t been able to teach any Urdu classes. He demands a fair investigation. Muslim students and their parents, who are keen on learning Urdu, state that they were forced to sign documents under threat of having their names struck off. The District Education Officer has confirmed receiving complaints from the students and parents, and will be investigating the matter personally.
