An unfortunate incident in Navi Mumbai highlights the potential inaccuracies of navigation applications. A driver’s car ended up in a ditch after following the directions provided by Google Maps. The driver was traveling from Belapur to Ulwe when the navigation system led them astray. Instead of using the Bay Bridge, the app directed the driver on a route beneath the bridge, ultimately ending up in the water at Dhruvatara Jetty. The driver was rescued by security personnel and did not sustain any injuries. The car was later pulled out using a crane.
This event is similar to prior occurrences of navigation errors, including an earlier event where Google Maps navigation led to a fatal accident in Faridpur.
