The Kargil War Memorial in Dras, Ladakh, hosted a solemn ceremony on Vijay Diwas, with Union Ministers, Army Chief, and relatives of the fallen soldiers paying their respects. Mansukh Mandaviya, Sanjay Seth, and Gen Upendra Dwivedi were among those present to honor the 545 soldiers who died during the Kargil War’s Operation Vijay. The day’s events took place while Operation Sindoor is still ongoing, according to Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, highlighting the nation’s constant military preparedness. Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed annually on July 26, commemorates the Indian Army’s triumph in the 1999 Kargil War, a victory achieved after months of intense combat in the difficult terrain of Kargil, including locations like Tololing and Tiger Hill.
