On the auspicious occasion of the third Monday of Sawan, a group of 60 Kanwariyas from Bhagwanpur Vishunpur Bande village in Vaishali district set off with a 331-foot-long Kanwar to offer prayers at the Baba Garibnath Temple in Muzaffarpur. The journey involves carrying water from the Paleza Ganga Ghat in the Saran district, with a distance of around 70 kilometers to cover.
The entire journey is undertaken on foot. The immense Kanwar was constructed under the guidance of Mahesh Gupta.
The group has been participating in the Kanwar Yatra for the last five years, constructing the Kanwar with the support of villagers. The total cost for the construction was around 1.5 lakh rupees. The unique Kanwar attracted large crowds from Paleza Ganga Ghat to Hajipur-Muzaffarpur Kanwar route.
A local from Hajipur expressed her excitement at witnessing the gigantic 331-foot Kanwar for the first time, highlighting the importance of the pilgrimage. Mahesh Bhagat, the leader of the Kanwar, mentioned that the procession consists of 60 Shiva devotees and 40 other supporters.
Around 100 Shiva devotees are participating in this Kanwar Yatra. The atmosphere is filled with chants of ‘Bol Bam’ as the devotees proceed towards Baba Garibnath Temple. The Kanwariyas are carrying water from the Uttarahini Ganga at the Paleza Ghat in Saran district, about 70 kilometers away from the temple. Mahesh Bhagat mentioned this is the fifth year they are carrying the Kanwar.
