A landslide on the Vaishno Devi Yatra route in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in injuries to at least four pilgrims on Monday morning, following heavy rains. The incident occurred near Banganga, a crucial point for the pilgrimage. The prompt action of local authorities, including volunteers, and shrine board personnel, facilitated the rescue and safe evacuation of the injured. The landslide also caused damage to several structures along the route, which is normally heavily used by pedestrians and pony services, leading to the temporary closure of the yatra route. Further, a landslide on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Udhampur’s Dewal bridge also caused disruptions.
