A devastating road accident in the Supela area of Bhilai claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy on Monday night. The accident happened as the boy was riding a scooter with a friend. A dog crossed the road, prompting the boy to swerve to avoid it. However, this caused him to lose control, leading to the scooter crashing and him falling into a roadside drain. The boy died at the scene; his friend was injured.
The accident occurred near the Lakdi Taal in the Supela police station area. The deceased has been identified as Ronak Dubey. Reports suggest that Ronak and his friend were en route to secure a temple when the incident happened. Seeing a dog, Ronak attempted to avoid hitting it, which resulted in the loss of control and the subsequent crash into the drain.
The collision was severe, causing Ronak to lose his balance and fall into the drain. He sustained serious head injuries, resulting in his immediate death. His friend, who was on the back of the scooter, was thrown off but landed near the drain, sustaining minor injuries.
The entire event was recorded on a CCTV camera installed in a nearby shop. The footage shows local youths rushing to help and attempting to rescue the injured. The video of the incident has been widely shared on social media.
Police are investigating the incident and have sent the body for a post-mortem examination. The unexpected passing of Ronak has brought profound sadness to his family and the local community.
