The first Monday of Sawan witnessed an enormous gathering of devotees at the Bhuteshwarnath Dham, known for its self-manifested Shivalinga. From early morning, a multitude of pilgrims, Kanwariyas, and families were absorbed in offering water and performing prayers. Local priests explain that the Shivalinga is ‘swayambhu’, meaning it appeared on its own from the earth. The Shivalinga’s size increases every year; presently, it measures approximately 80 feet in height with a 210-foot circumference, a testament to the devotees’ steadfast faith. The air was filled with the echoes of “Har Har Mahadev” and “Bol Bam” as devotees performed Rudrabhishek using Gangajal. Many Kanwariyas, continuing a tradition, walked to the temple with Kanwars on their heads, offering their prayers to Lord Shiva. The Shri Bhuteshwarnath Yuva Bhandara Committee arranged for free food distribution and first aid, serving approximately 10,000 devotees on this special Sawan Monday. Devotees believe that heartfelt prayers offered at Bhuteshwarnath result in the fulfillment of their desires. Many families were seen performing special rituals for their health, wealth, and well-being.
