Following the death of a youth who fell into an open drain in Lucknow amidst heavy rainfall, the Yogi Adityanath government has responded with a series of measures. The government has announced financial compensation of Rs 9 lakh to the victim’s family. Additionally, a junior engineer has been suspended, and an assistant engineer has been issued a show cause notice. An FIR has been filed against the construction agency to investigate the negligence. The DCP of Lucknow West informed that the victim’s body was recovered from the Gomti River. The incident has been taken seriously by the government which aims to prevent such tragedies in the future. An FIR has also been filed against the local ward councillor and the cleaning contractor.
