A murder case has been reported from Chhatoud village near Tilda-Nevra in Raipur district. A newly married pregnant woman was found dead in her room under suspicious circumstances. The police have taken the husband into custody and he has been incarcerated.
The post-mortem examination revealed that the woman died of asphyxiation, and the death was ruled a homicide. The Deputy Inspector General of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Lal Umed Singh, recognizing the severity of the situation, instructed a swift investigation. A team comprising Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Kirtan Rathore, City Superintendent of Police (Vidhan Sabha) Virendra Chaturvedi, and Tilda-Nevra Police Station In-charge Inspector Ramakant Tiwari was formed, leading to the arrest of the suspect within a day.
The investigation established that the victim, Suruj Nirmalkar, was killed by her husband, Pradum Nirmalkar. The accused claimed he committed the crime because his wife refused to have sexual relations due to her physical condition.
