A chaotic situation arose during a public meeting in Sukudih village, within the Gungghasa Panchayat of Topchanchi block, Dhanbad, over the selection of an Anganwadi worker, resulting in the cancellation of the selection process. The incident involved the scrutiny of applications from nineteen women. Complaints arose that applications from women belonging to the tribal community were being sidelined after evaluation. CDPO Mamta Sah announced the selection of a woman from the OBC category. This announcement led to protests from the tribal women. The CDPO then departed the meeting. Hariharpur police station in-charge Rahul Kumar Jha, along with officers, arrived to restore order. The villagers expressed their grievances, asserting that the Anganwadi center is primarily for tribal children, yet tribal applicants were being overlooked in the selection. Several panchayat representatives witnessed the events.
